Ron Stem, Sarah's Fiancé, Slain in Tampa

Farah has notified us that Sarah's Fiancé, Ron Stem, was slain as he was leaving Sarah's apartment around midnight Thursday night, February 9.

Sarah had been seeing Ron for over a year.  They had become very close and planned to marry after she completed her degree at USF.  The last time I talked with her, she was almost "giddy" over her relationship with Ron.  I was happy that she had found someone with whom she could share her life and her abundant love.

Please keep Sarah in your thoughts and prayers.  She feels this loss deeply and will need our support in the coming weeks.

Sarah is spending the weekend with friends, but can be reached via her beeper at 813-201-7048.

Sarah forwarded this picture of she & Ron at her graduation last August, when she received her MS in Nursing.  In her email, Sarah said "... smiling ... was his usual countenance."

Also from Sarah:  "The funeral plans are not available yet, but I will let you know when I find them out. His son Michael finally arrived to Tampa yesterday [Wednesday, February 15] to claim the body and initiate the process. I do know that the funeral is to be held in New Jersey."

Sarah also mentioned that she would like to arrange a memorial service in Tampa and is in touch with the Chaplain of the USF Chapel Center (who knew Ron & sent Sarah a nice note regarding his contributions to the USF Chapel ministry).

Ron's Funeral will be held Saturday, February 25, at 10:00 AM at Johnson Walton Funeral Home in Milford, NJ.  Sarah and Bill will attend the service.
