We've enjoyed watching our neighborhood Red Tailed Hawk (at least that is what we think he is) for the past three or four years. Today he dropped by to see what I was doing in the van, hopeful that I would drop a morsel ... or maybe he was trying to figure out if he could carry our neighbor's standard-sized poodle. I was lucky to catch these shots. He was perched in the top of a tree about 100 yards from the van, the light was perfect, and my camera was close by. Normally we are lucky to catch a fleeting glimpse of him through the tree canopy over our neighborhood.
Wonder how much that dog weighs?
A classic hawk-in-flight photo. Sometimes amateur photographers get lucky.
This is our usual view of our neighbor unless he is in hot pursuit of prey.
