The family gathered at Holy Trinity Parish Preschool in Decatur on May 23rd to celebrate Ian's granduation from the school's Pre-K program. The festivities included songs by the students, gifts and diplomas, and a play put on by the students: The Tortoise and the Hare. Watching Ian, we were moved by how much he and his classmates have developed over the past year, and reminded of similar performances by James that seemed to take place only a few years ago. We are truly blessed to be able to share in these precious moments, and proud of the young man Ian is becoming.
Oliver with Gretchen's sister Caroline ... or is it the other way around?
The class marched into the graduation ceremony ...
... and serenaded the audience.
The presentation of diplomas.
The class exited the stage to "Oh We're Off to Kindergarten". We love Ian's animation!
Ian played the Mouse in The Tortoise and the Hare.
The menagerie followed and encouraged the Tortoise as the race began.
The overconfident hare stopped for a nap ...
... while the tortoise plugged along with the menagerie.
Curtain call. Good job!!
Andrew handled himself very well throughout the graduation and picnic. He is very good at making you feel you are part of his world.
Graduates, parents, and guests adjourned to the playground for a picnic. Or to be more precise, most did. Ian and Andrew (OK, and Grandpa) were more interested in the bucket truck.
They showed us the crops in the students' garden. The strawberries were delicious!
And they showed Gramma Jan the students' butterfly garden.
The Holy Trinity Preschool community is a great resource for Gretchen and James' family. Our confidence that the "next generation" is in good hands was refreshed by watching families at the picnic interact within their family unit and with other families.
